Smile Pros and Cons Of a TB TC

I was thinking of getting a trailblazer torque converter but i havent seen anyone really talk about them. How are they on the highway? City? Ive seen a few for about $225 is that about right? What the differnce between the tb tc and the Yank tt2600? thanks. Ive search on quite a few forums but couldnt find anything specific.

What is this going behind???

well fist off a tbtc should only be around 150 unless its circle D tbtc....
mine runs great anywhere, flashes to about 2600 behind my baby cammed 4.8...
i didnt even lose any gas mileage by adding it..

Pros: inexpensive torque converter that flashes to about 2600 behind a built 5.3

Cons: Not as strong as a good aftermarket unit, factory lock up clutch is not as strong as aftermarket units

FWIW, I haven't read of too many TBTC failures, I think that a lot of guys were running them a while back

From what I've read you should be able to pick one up for around $150

The TB converter is a great mod for a DD truck. I think a new GM is ~$150. It should flash to about 2600 like mentioned. We offer our built version that is upgraded and re-calibrated to have about 400-500 rpm higher stall. So it is about a 3000, this depends on weight, gearing, and HP #'s. The Circle D version is $375.
