Default question about 4.11 gears

I have a set of 4.11 motive gears, I have yet to put them on becuase a lot of people say that I will lose a lot on the top end and spin my tires a lot when I take off, I was thinkin about trading them in and gettin sum 3.90s, what ya'll think? Also a buddy of mine said I'll need a 12-bolt conversion if I get the 4.11s installed, is this true? Thx

Your buddy is wrong. I just recently installed some 4.10's in my truck and almost kicked myself in the *** for not doing it any sooner. Some people will claim you run out of breath up on top becuase you will not be able to downshift as high with the 3.42/.73. However, overall you will be happy with them.

ya same here, im still undecided because my tires arent going to be too big, 275/45/20, im going with that size tire because im going to put a 2/4 drop on it, so i mean i wont catch too much traction, especially with a 3200 stall, i think i might go with the 3.90s because the stall is going to kill me enough off the line, and the 3.90s should help a little bit more when racing from like a 20 or 30 roll.....i would think

I say go with 4.56's, I only turn 1800rpm at 80mph.

Seriously with your tire size, 4.10's would kick *** as they don't make 4.11's for our 10 bolts. BTW, your stall with be tighter with 4.10's vs. 3.90's. But you'll have the extra gear though. It's a trade off IMO.
