Question of hills and converters

When going over steep hills at low speed (say 50-60mph) the coverter tends to lock/unlock too much. If i drop it down to 3rd it seems like the rpms are too high (2300) for just cruising, and it is a fairly steep (and long 30 minutes up) hill.
Is this 'normal' for a 3000 stall?
Around town and expecially on the hyway it runs great! Step on the peddle at any speed under 70mph and your going back in the seat!
Like my new sig?

To make the TCC stay locked while climbing those hills, the cruise and/or normal mode TCC release vs tps needs to be adjusted.
On teh hill the truck needs more power to maintain speed, you or the cruise control opens the throttle more. This must make your TPS value that enters the cell which calls for a TCC release.
If the TCC(torque converter clutch) is engaged, I dont see why having a higherstall speed TC makes a difference. When the TCC is locked, the torque multiplication of the tC is taken out of play.
Did the stock TC act the same way on the same hill?
Some simple adjustments to the TCC tables is all that is needed. You are able to select exactly how much TPS will be allowed before the TCC will release.

The TCC release tables must be adjusted along with removal of TM. I have heard that high stall TC's cause the TM functions of the PCM to become confused.
