Default Ran my Tahoe at the track!

It was my first time and I made all kinds of rookie mistakes. Plus I was on old all terrains. I was just going to watch but when I got there I just had to try it. On my first pass, I spun out so bad it was useless. So I eased into it on my second run. I blame that on my terrible reaction time and 60' but it ran great once I got it moving. Here are my times

.6253 reaction
2.5029 60'
6.3108 330'
9.4248 1/8 mile at 79.45 mph
14.3942 1/4 mile at 98.34

I was happy with the way my truck ran on this run. But after one more run that I f-ed up my transmission didn't shift into third on the next two runs and I hit the limiter hard. So I'm curious. I know my transmission could go at anytime since its stock but what can I do to help ensure more consistent shifts? Would a transgo shift kit help? Cooler? I lowered my shift points for the last run in the tune but it just flew right past them and hit the limiter so hard that it killed the engine so I didn't do anymore runs after that. I'm hooked. I know I'd be in the thirteens with some tires and some practice, but I'll have to be able to get it into third.

It did. It would launch hard too if I could get it to stick. However, some real traction might mean the end of some other drive train part.

A HD2 Shiftkit and a vette servo would surely help.
i know its beating a dead horse and over kill, but if your plannin on running it hard have you looked into a 4L80E?

Of course. I just finished the motor not long ago, though so there's no dough left for that kind of project. The vette servo was my first mod. Now I can tune but this wasn't a tuning problem. I wish I'd been logging transmission temps at the track. It shifted great the first three runs but wouldn't hit third at WOT after that. It was fine when I drove it home though but it had had time to cool off. I never ran it full out on the way home, though. I haven't done that since the track.

Awesome times! I'm sure you could drop a couple more tenths if you could get it to hook.
