Default Is the range sensor required on a 4l60e

From what ive read i can run it without it. But im not 100% on this. I finally got a harness for my 5.3/4l60 swap and some *** cut the range sensor wires off. The other round connector is there though. and the vss signal wire is there. I dont care about having back up lights or a raised idle. Just want to know if any of you have ever done this.

If the computer you are using is looking for it then I would say that your going to need it. Keep in mind this acts as a neutral safety switch as well a range sensor. What are you using for a controller?

I will be using a factory 02 pcm. I went to a salvage yard and two trucks had them but the wire colors where both different. They woruld let me cut them off anyways. It would be awesome to be able to not use it.

Bump for another question...I picked up a FLT lvl 7...dropped my stock 65E and the neutral safety switches are different, no big deal right, swap em...except I have no idea it my switch is lined up with the FLT linkage...any ideas how to make sure its correctly lined up? The holes to attach the switch are not centric...need alignment help!

I'm pretty sure you need it or else the PCM won't shift.
