Rear axle options...
I have a 2004 2wd chevy truck and I am looking for a bolt in rear end that will stand up to 800 hp. I have heard that there is nothing bigger than the 10bolt that still uses 6 lug. Help!

There is a "Factory Hybrid" 14 bolt in the newer VHO, SSS trucks That is a direct bolt in. I am not sure on the exact years but I think 05 on up on those trucks had that option. Will cost $1000 on up though for a used one as there are not many out there. I think It was a "AXN" RPO build code.
The Same type 9.5 SF 14 bolt Came in earlyer trucks. 88-98 From what I found recently, You want a 3/4 ton 4x4 model truck with 6 lugs which will measure 67.5 Outer axle flange to flange. Not drum hats on it. The one in the 2 wheel drive 3/4 ton are only 64.5 and were measured the same way. Also Some 3/4 Vans came with them to but you have to do your research as every one I cam across in vans was different. You should be able to get a complete one from a pull it your self type Junk yard complete from $100-$150
The factory 10 bolt style measurement in my 00 silverado Is like 68 5/8 with the disc hats on it.
All the mounting locations for shocks, leaf springs, bump stop pads and brakes are also different and will have to be changed.
For the gear ratios you will want to look for the build code tag wich will be in the glove box, on the door, or door jam area. GT4 is 3.73 GT5 is 4.10 GU6 is 3.42
This is all I was able to find In doing research and physically going out and checking. So until I get one I won't have any thing to show. As soon as I do I will do a full write up on mine with plenty of pictures and details.
Options are,
1. Buy a used 14 bolt Hybrid out of a newer truck.
2. Build up My 10 bolt with stronger axles, posi unit, new gears
3. Build a new Ford 9 inch, New axles , new 3rd member
4. Used 14 bolt, New posi
Number 4 Is the cheapest option. I should be able to find a good used complete 14 bolt for $150 or less with The gear ratio I want. Then all need is a posi around $500 with an install kit. My Labor won't cost me. The other options would cost easly over $1000
I have all the tools Needed. I could even build a new 9 inch Fabricated housing. But all the new parts would throw it way over budget. I would be better off buying a used Hybrid thats a direct fit but it will still have a G80 Gov lock in it...
Now from what I have read The 14 Bolt SF 9.5 has these features;
Roughly 3.3 outer diameter tubbing with a .188 wall thickness tubing
something like 1.625 axle shaft diameter at the outer bearing
I believe they are 33 spline axles.
each axle is about 4 pounds heavier then the 10 bolt
Overall its supposed to be about 30 pounds heavier
