Default Rear differential drain plug..

I am going to be changing the fluid in my rear diff this weekend. I had a question, I can NOT for the life of me find the correct tool used for removing the rear diff drain plug. Before you all say its just a 3/8" ratchet end, its not! My drain plug is the square box type plug, but its not a 3/8. I am beginning to think it is some off the wall metric size. Even the dealer didn't know. Does anyone know what it could be and if I can find a set of metric "square" type tools anywhere?

BTW I have the Dana 12 bolt in my truck...

What about a short piece of the correct size square stock in an 8 point or 4 point socket?

i would just remove the differential cover and drain the fluid that way. plus you can see how things look inside and clean off metal pieces from the magnet.

a 10 bolt, 8.5 inch gasket is only like $5-6

Another vote for taking the cover off. When I took mine off, the magnet was totally coated with junk. I replaced my gasket but RTV silicone will work just as well if not better

You know how involved removing an all wheel steer rear end axle cover would be? Thats not gonna happen hahah. I have to remove the drain plug somehow. Removing the all wheel steer mechanism (its one complete unit on the back of the rear end) is not going to happen

Just drill a hole in the bottom of the damn thing and JB weld it back together.

Seriously, I've never seen one that a 3/8" rachet wouldn't work on.

Maybe try emailing them or something.

Got a picture of it?
