Default rear drum to disc

Curious to see if there is a simpler way of getting the drums swapped to disc on my 05 silverado. I'm currently looking at getting a rearend assembly out of an earlier model suburban and just swapping rearends. Anyone know if there might be a simpler way of achieving this. I looked through threads, but haven't found anything on this. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Why do you want to switch to disc brakes. Most people who drag race want to switch to drum to accomodate for 15 inch wheels without having to grind. If u really want to do it just switch out the brakes they bolt up to the rear end the same way. I think there are four bolts.

I just want to have the best all around handling, braking and accelerating truck I can. I've always hated drum brakes. I originally thought the same thing, but I've had a few people tell me that it's best to just swap out the rearend, but no one has said why?

its not about handling.. braking is pretty much the same. 90% of the braking is on the front brakes anyway..... i just couldnt stand my brakes squeeking all the damn time. its pretty much strait forward swap. take the old one out. put the new(old) one in lol

Yeah, I've torn em down and cleaned em off a few times, it always goes back to making a bunch of noise within a week. Do the emergency brake cables hook up the same or do I need to get some that go with the rearend I get

i put disc brakes from an 01 on my brothers 06... everything swaps right over... e brake cables work also....the calipers will be clocked just a little differenty... and you will have to bend a new brakeline for the rear axle..very simple.... advance auto rents out the brakeline tool for free which is nice

i would not get rid of the drum brakes.... my 05 truck has drum and my dads 04 has disk and my truck has sharper brakes

just my opinion
