I swapped out the weak 10 bolt and went with a 14 bolt with a trutrac and 4.56 gears and havnt broke an axle since.

What specifically went out on you???

There are several things that could break. The most common is the differential. If its an open style, the spider gears could break and take everything else out. If its a factory locker the ramp plate usually lets go and takes everything else with it. Most common causes are lack of maintenance and burn outs.

4.10's would certainly help in the performance Dept. If your going to rebuild the 10 bolt, you might want to try a Detroit True Trac. They seem to be the most durable unit to take the punishment.

Plenty of fast guys with 10 bolts on here

If you really plan on beating the Snot out of it like launching on slicks, you may want to look into a 14 bolt swap.

X2 on the 14 bolt. But if you are going to beat on it with slicks would recommend better lug studs.

4.10's, true trac, maybe a TA style girdle cover. cap studs are also a cheap investment.

That's about all you can really do besides maybe getting stronger axles.

The only other thing would be to have some one inspect the housing for straightness and possibly weld the Tubes to the center section. Not mandatory but it might help with longevity. Every factory housing I have seen has some deflection in 1 direction or another and requires a little straightening.

Good luck, Keep us posted!!!

Everyone will suggest Rons Machining Service, no personal exp. with them but they seem to have good customer service
