I was just thinking that its a good thing he has a sense of humor about it.

so hey... our stock driveshafts are a two piece.. ya'll switch 'em out with a one piece? what do you mean by "loops"?

But seriously, i have 3.23's now and my top speed aproaches 200mph in 4th gear theoretically but i think something would explode well before that. hell my 3rd gear runs to 155mph and i have only come near that once and than i didn't have the intestinal fortitude to hit 4th. but i would suggest 4.10's

as for the "loops" they are driveshaft loops, they catch the driveshaft if it or the u-joint fails to prevent it from beating the dog **** out of the underside of your truck and possibly hurting someone or causing a wreck. they really aren't needed unless your turning some pretty stout numbers but insurance is insurance.

ok I'll probably go with 3.90's in the rear when I get my tru-trac in there..

Just something to think about, in my z71, with 3.73s and a 4L60 at 80 mph its at 2100RPMs. In the SS, with 4.10s and a 4L65, at 75mph, I am turning 2500 rpms. Its somewhat a significant jump in rpms, but I think that the 65 has something to do with that???

someone wanna chime in on that?

When I replace my rear with the new unit I might as well get new gears.. not sure how accurate those online calculators are. It says I'll be at 3.1K rpms at 70MPH with 4.10's..

it has nothing to do wiht the 65e, the 60e and 65e have the EXACT same gear ratios

is it possible cause of the weight different between the ecsb and the ss?

or it would be the same weight cause they both have an all wheel drive platform?

those online calcs gotta be way off.. .

I've heard of cars actually flipping over when their drive shafts break without having a loop. They kind of act like a pole vault of sorts...not pretty.

When I hit 115 my car started a weird shake and at 125 it stopped. At 144 I stopped cuz I didn't have the ballz to see what would give first in my driveline.

If I wasn't scared of flipping over on the freeway and no damage would of been done to the turbo which is right next to the drive shaft than yeah maybe...actually nahh, my insurance is pretty sweet as it is I wouldn't want to abuse their generousity.
