Default Rear end gear ratio question

Okay new to the site awesome info i have question i am getting my rear end re-done on my 03 silverado ext cab 4.8 long tube headers no cats underdrive injen intake and a charlie wheatly tune it has open axel 3.73 i run a 30 inch street tire stock suspension i am looking to get more off the line performance from my gears so i was thinking a 4.56 was the way to go but the rear end guy says you dont want any bigger than 4.11s this is my weekend truck i dont do much highway. mabe once a year for float trips and do haul occasionally and i am not worried bout fuel economy i just want it to pull? any body used 4.56 any suggestions please thanks

Funny thing, I drive with 30" street tires too and I just ordered 4.56's and a Truetrac. I'll update my thread (About to get traction) next week after the install.

will it make a big difference from 3.73?

i just went from a 3.73 to 4.56 on my truck. I have 34" tall tires and it made a very big difference! I could only imagine it on stock tires!

they are not quite stock they are sport tires general grabber uhp v speed rated when i had it tuned i kept turning over reg tires and destroying the right rear one which is another reason i want posi so i can destroy 2 at a time and it will be even

73's to 10's is not much diff, but you will def be able to tell with the 56's. If it is a weekend truck I would do the 56's

i have the same bolt ons same motor but rcsb with 5.13 gears 30inch street tires low gears but the difference it made is night and day!!!!

I just went from 3.42 to 4.10 and wow!!!

5.13 wow you must never drive the highway that thing must be a beast well im going 4.56 against the rear end guys suggestions motive high performance gears and eaton posi and Mr. wheatly's new tune and i should be rockin ill let you know how it goes after the gears break in
