rear end gear swap on Z71 4X4
Hello guys
I own a 2006 GMC Crew Cab Z71 4X4. I am interested in installing 3.73 gears in the rear end (currently 3.42) to help with towing my boat. It really lugs uphill right now. If I change the rear end ratio, do I also need to change the gears in the front differential?

Try putting the truck in third gear with the tow button off. If you can get the converter to lock in third, it may have enough torque and the locked converter keeps the tranny cooler.
