Default rear gears for turbo set up...

Im getting everything set up for my upcoming t56 swap and i need to chose a gear ratio for my truck...i originally planned on something like 4.88's but now that ive gone a different route and am going to turbo charge my truck, i had read that the turbo setups like to be lugged a little bit...but seeing my truck is and ECSB with 20s with roughly a 30" tire on it, i didnt know what gears to use...

the motor is gonna be a foraged 408 and hope to get the KBracing front mount kit...so what do you guys think...4.56, 4.88, 5.13? oh and BTW, wheres a good vendor to get them from...I want to get a tru-trac as well while Im doing the swap...

thanks

3.73's. The larger the gears the longer the lag will be.
Get something like 3.73 and you'll see power sooner.

Edit: or should i say STAY with your 3.73's

3.73's with a t56...hmm maybe im confused...i thought the higher the numerical number, the lower the ratio, hence 3.73's would be A LOT of lag where as 4.88's or 5.13's wouldnt have any lag at all? but thats why im askin you guys...

Yep NA i would say go with 4+ but turbo you will pull through the gears too fast, not spend enough time in the powerband. with a t56 i would say either 3.73 or 4.10.

But remember he is goin with a T56..

Spoolin went from 3.23s to 4.10s to 3.42s with the 80E.
He is running quite a bit of boost so it might be a different game.

If I were you, I would leave it like it is to see where your over all gear ratio is. then decide which way to go.

Feels similar to dropping from a 3600 TC to a 2600 TC. I would recommend if for anyone pushing alot of boost or who have alot of Torque. And now I won't be shifting into 4th 120 feet before the beams at the track! Should be at the top of 3rd at around 120mph...hopefully!

thats probably a good idea to just leave em, and seeing im got a GTO t56 with overall lower gear ratios it might work out for me...lol but i wasnt planing on doing the t56 and motor and the same time...haha that will be fun to drive...t56 + 4.8 + heavy truck=a handful to drive until Im boosted...regardless i will need a locker if these gear work for me, which do you guys like to run?
