Default rear shocks

does it matter which way you install em? do they work the same either way? I like the way they look with the rod down thats the way I have em rt now..

Yes it does matter, have you never compressed a shock upside down?

What kind of shocks are they?

If those are monotube shocks, you can put them in upside down from what I've read. Other shocks I don't believe you can.

I think they are twin tube. I emailed rancho to see if it matters..see if i get a response..

i don't know if it matters but why not just put them on right side up and be done with it?

googled Rancho 5000 installation and found this for the RS5000

e) Note that the rear Rancho shocks can be installed with the boot at the top or the bottom.

Is that straight from Rancho? Monotubes can be mounted each way, twin tubes aren't supposed to.

no. that was from a forum saying how to install the RS5000s

According to what I seen posted by Rancho as FAQ's they only offer double Tube and do NOT recommend using monotube on a 4x4 or lifted applicaiton.

I did a google search for images and 99% of them have the boot on top. Saw a couple that had them upside down but doesn't mean they didn't do it wrong.
