Default Rearend help?

So I blew out my spider gears on my 2000 Silverado... I got some for a 8.5 10 bolt, wouldn't fit, though I know I have a 8.6 10 bolt. So I got some for that, and I'll be damned if they don't fit either. I'll get the side gears in no problem, but the spiders just won't rotate into posotion, they hit the carrier. What's the trick to these god damn tings... There's little dot's all over each of the side and spider gears. Do these things need to be timed or what?? Anyone know... Damn GM's... :p

Thanks,
Matt
