Ok I have a question, I have a 2001 silverado X-cab it came with the 4.8 and the 4l60e, I'm trying to find out what readend I have in the truck. I heard they have a 8.5 and 8.6 rear. and what is the smallest gear they put in those trucks, I tryed to figure the gear ratio out by turning the wheel and see how many times the driveshaft turns but I am only coming up with 1rotation of the tire the shaft only turns twice. Please any help would be great.

you have the 8.625" rear

look in the glove box for the RPO codes

Like Atomic said, look at the sticker in your glove box. Get the G-codes and google them. G80 is the ticking time-bomb, the other G-code is gear ratio.
