Default Redoing my tranny lines, i got some questions.

I am about to order a Tru-cool 40k and I was thinking about redoing my tranny lines to -6AN braided lines... My question for those who have done it, should i use 45* or 90* AN fittings on the trans? I have seen a few threads where guys used 90*... once installed how difficult are they to get too?

Thanks

I used 45's on an old turbo 350, and it was easy.

90's might be a bit tougher unless you need exhaust clearance.

I used the swivel 90's on my 80 and there is plenty of clearance. If you use 45's, I think you are going to have to bend the hose hard or it will rub on the tunnel. I have some pics at home I will try to get up later.

I used the adapter fittings in the case (1/4" NPT > -6AN) with 45* swivels and straight hose ends, and a braided hose and it always worked flawlessly and I never had a single leak out of it.

I'm actually trying to adapt the same setup to my 80E.

You could probably find that writeup I did by searching this section, or the auto trans section on 'Tech

Advance search threads started by me in this section and keywords '-6AN hoses installed' or something like that in the thread title. Lots of pics.

Yep i found yours and 1slowz71, but yall used different stuff. You used 1/4"->-6an for the tranny case and 1slowz71 used 14mmX1.5->-6an... Most threads used 90*s on the case, but colton mentioned the 45*s would work better... Just trying to get everything lined up.

My fittings were installed by FLT when the trans came from them. Just with NPT fittings, be careful, since they're tapered. Tighten them too much and it will bust the case.

Ok, thanks for the tightening tip, so do I just load them up with teflon tape or teflon paste and snug them up?

Mine had paste, just get them good and snug and leave it alone.
