Default Removed 4WD!

took off 150 lbs of stuff yesterday. and that was only the front diff and axles. also, found out the hard way that 2wd and 4wd hubs are different.

Ive been looking into doing this myself. How hard was it?

is your truck equipped with the 4x4 electronic switch?
because i am looking for one if you want to sell it.

yes, it is electric, and yes, id love to sell it. which part are you looking for? the actual switches in the dash? or the big solenoid looking thing on the transfer case?

actually not hard at all. took about 2 hours. you either need to buy 2wd front hubs to replace the 4wd hubs, or, if you are cheap, remove the outer section of the axle that goes into the hub, and re-attatch it with the big nut. if not, the front hub bearings will fall out!

When you say hubs, do you mean spindles? Does it hurt the transfer case to run without the front driveshaft?

not as far as i can tell. the input shaft is just an internally splined shaft.

and no, the hubs bolt to the spindles, the spindles themselves are the same.
