it looks to have a pretty good seal around the outside of the internally splined slip shaft...the only thing that seals it when the DS is on it, is a thin rubber booot thats clamped to the DS yoke.

alright. here goes.
1. remove the wheels, calipers, brake rotors.
2. remove sway bar end links. (in order to get the axles out)
3. remove axles by removing the large nut on the hub, and the 6 bolts on the differential.
4. remove the front driveshaft. take the u-joint bolts off at the differential side, and on the transfer case end, you have to beat the shaft out of the case. do this by freeing up the loose differential end, and tapping the shaft out and away from the case. it might be a little tough, but it WILL come out as long as the other end is upbolted from the differential.
5. remove 4 large nuts and bolts from the differential mounts. there are two nuts on the passenger side that attatch the diff to a large aluminum bracket, and then there are two bolts on the driver side, you kinda need to look for them, i believe they are 21mm. the diff will then be loose and you will have to wiggle it to get it out. on my truck, i had to unbolt the steering box from the frame, in order to move the idler arm forward about a half an inch so the diff would come all the way out.
6. remove the hubs from the spindles, they are held on by 3 19 or 21 mm bolts on the backside of the spindle. you will also have to unplug the abs sensors.

the only things you need to buy are front 2wd hubs. dont worry about removing the old abs sensors from the hubs, because the new ones will come with them. my price on these hubs was $160 each brand new.

these items all totalled 151 lbs.

hope this helps.
