Default Removing the overload leaf

Is it a good idea to remove the overload leaf to lower the rear? And how much would it lower?

It would only lower the rear about 1cm, or however thick the spring is. The overload spring only does anything when you......well, over load the bed and the main spring bends to come in contact with the overload spring.

Some guys a few posts earlier were using spring clamps on the overload spring to aid in traction/wheel hop. They reported that it lowered the rear about an inch. You might want to try that, or shackles if you want about 2".

How low are you wanting to go? Do you already have a drop?

that is a BAD idea.

Just buy 2" lowering shackles for like 40-50 bucks for the best ones on the market. The spring clamps is a good idea too, but i wouldn't rely on that for a decent suspension drop.

Spend the money on rear springs or a shackle.

well see I already have shackles. Then after a few months I decided on a 2/4. Well i have the shackles, hangers, and shocks to lower the rear 4" (still have to get some coils), but after looking at the pics of 2/4 drops it seems that another inch would even things out. That would make it 5" in the rear. Do you have to cut a C-notch with 5"?

You are borderline needing a notch with the 4, mine bottoms out on big bumps at high speeds. I like the 4 because it still leaves room to put some weight in the bed.

Ya 5" drop in the rear will give you a not so fun encounter with the frame and axle housing. If you drive smooth roads and go over few speed bumps in your driving you may get away without notching.

Removing the overload is not a bad thing but...
with only drop the rear .5 to maybe .75 max

I am with Blown - My 4 in rear springs - was just fine
Still able to put something in the bed
I have not bottomed mine out yet

My friend in his S-10 removed a leaf to even out his drop. IMO he needed a c-notch to begin with, but now it's to the point where he can't even put a 27" TV in the bed without hitting the bump stops while going over pebbles.

I didn't know you already had a drop, and I'm with the others, don't pull a leaf! Especially if you use your truck like a truck.
