I wish I had a better answer for you. Unfortunitly I know just enough to my self into trouble. I would not want to misslead you. Maybe Gilbert could better answer that for you. I believe you only need steels if you have some that are burnt up or if you need different thicknesses to address clearance issues. As far as the 4 gear clutches most likely the factory ones work the best and there is really no other option because they couldnt come up with any thing better.
Before you commit to a kit it would be best to open it up and see if you need any thing out of the ordinary maybe you don't need steels. They do offer different kits with steels but the price nearly doubles. And if you end up needing anything else like a Sprag, or a planetary you would be better off spending the money towards that then replaceing steels that are not bad. I know sonnax offers a" no walk" bushing that goes in the back and is supposed to prevent the bushing from walking out of the trans and tearing up the case.
Maybe GIlbert could recomend or steer you in the right direction on what works and what does not. Esspecially with the clutches you asked about.
