got my truck back from the tranny shop a few days ago. The main problems were the front planet along with the reaction shell. While they were in their they replaced some other stuff for good measure, the only thing I can rembere right now was the TQ conveter. So I guess I can say I got a 3/4 rebuilt tranny. just wanted to give an update as to what happened. Now im even more in the hole as before! sometime this week I gotta look at my rear and see whats wrong with that.

cost me a little over 2K for the tranny. Not sure what is up with the rear yet, just starts screaming at 30mph and just keeps getting louder. Gonna try and look at it sometime this week. Hopefully I can find a good/ cheap posi to put in their if I can.

You're not supposed to run synthetic in the 4l60e......

I have a fully built 65E from Rock On Transmission, and he said it didn't matter if you used synthetic. He didn't really have an opinion either way but said it would not hurt the tranny, The one thing he did say against useing synthetic was if you ran low and had to add some fluid, sometimes its hard to find synthetic and if you mixed it than you would have a problem.

From what I've heard from service manuals and other F-bod 4l60E owners. Synthetic should not be used. But Dave knows his stuff to. To each their own.
