Shift solenoid or trans just worn out
I have the 4L60E in my Envoy and with 174K miles it has had a decent life. I want to hope that the drum seals or other seals deep within still have some life left.
I have changed the fluid (flush) and filter at 35K, 80K, 125K, and 168K. What I have is a delayed hard 1-2 shift when cold then becomes normal when warm. At the same time I have a good 2-3 shift when cold but slightly lazy when warm. 3-4 is normal.
Once 3rd is engaged it's solid and never slips. When pulling a trailer (14' tandem) the trans tends to bite harder at the 2-3 shift and stays that way after I remove the trailer and returns to slightly lazy when warm and no trailer. Does the ECM learn the higher load?
I know this trans won't last forever but I have treated it good. Could this possibly be a shift solenoid or does it represent completely different symptoms?
