I used the stock shocks, Bilsteins HD and now Edelbrock IAS.

I cannot tell you the difference between using any of them on my truck

I just installed Bilstein HD's on my 05 Silverado Z71. On one day of driving my first response is they are much better than stock, but stock was some red made in Mexico shock.

Bilstein HD's are a little firmer but handle better and take rough patches better.

The red Z71 shocks are Tenneco's, and yes, they're junk My truck had a very harsh ride with those shocks, but with the Bilsteins it was responsive.

KYB Monomax is what I recommend.

Bilstein HD's here too. I noticed a small improvement in ride quailty but the handling is much better. The body roll is minimal now. I highly recommend the HD's for their handling performance.

so i'm thinking about possibly cranking my t-bars up 1" max when i get my next tires. when i talked to the shock warehouse guy about it, he recommended moving up to the 5100s up front because they're longer, but he said the HDs would probably be fine up to 1" crank. has anybody else run HDs with a small crank? how did they work for you?

I have the 5100 Bilsteins for up to 2" of crank lift. Back when I got them I compared them against the stockers and they're about half an inch longer when fully extended. I remember reading somewhere else they're the same length as the regular Bilstein HDs the only difference being the color.

Get the front & rear 5100, they look a lot better than the yellow

i'm looking more for a not-stiff-as-a-board ride than worrying too much about the shocks being ugly yeller. i also ain't gonna crank more than 1" so as to not stress my steering components too much.
