Default Shoppin for a Performance Tire for stock rims

Just installed the Hotchkis sway bar kit and now I need some better tires, mine need replacing anyways.....Not lookin to throw around a lota money since I bought the truck 12k miles ago and have managed to wear out all 4 tires already. I'm looking for Basically the same sidewall height as stock only rated for better handling. Some quick lookin on tirerack.com came up with some Kumhos for 70 each then 30 shipping for the set. I would like to buy locally so I dont have to worry about shipping and I can buy from where I get them installed so they cut me more of a deal. What tires/ supliers would you guys recomend. oh and for those that might wonder, the truck is a 2wd 1500.

It depends on the size you want. Kumho makes one a little shorter than stock in a 255/65 16 in the Ectsa STX, which seems to be a decent tire. Toyo makes the Proxes in 275/60 16 and is a very good tire. Its a little shorter too and a little wider. I don't know of anybody that makes a performance tire in 255/70 16 though. I have Toyo Open Country a/t's on my stock rims and have good traction if for an all-terrian, but I'm assuming you want a performance tire.

Since I only have one set of rims, these will be year round tires, aka Wisconsin, aka snow part of the year, and yes the truck does leave the pavement on occation, nothing crazy but its not 100% hard ground.

I go off the beaten path once in a while too. Not as much as I used to though, but at the time I got the Toyo Open Country's I needed a tire with good traction 'cuz I could never get my truck to hook and it had a good tread for occasional off-road use. I almost got them in a 265/70 16 to give it a little more width and height, which is only about half an inch over stock. I think they have a 50,000 mile warranty as well. Some will think that the a/t is overly aggressive for a 2wd but I thought they worked pretty well.

Im happy with my firestone indy 500's they are cheap sporty looking and hook on wet and dry pavement amazingly well for thier price.

downsides are the sidewalls are soft and not good on cornering but it makes the truck ride smoother

I think they should be a decent year round tire but would look else where if you go offroading and dont even think about mud

What size? I'm looking for some non-hunting season tire for the factory 16's in about a 255/60, but can't find them in a 16.
