short throw for NV4500HD?
#2
The answer, Yes and No...
I bought one and modified it with mixed results...have a stock shifter back in now, although with all I learned might try it again
First, the GM NV4500 has a taller shift tower then the dodge, GM puts a small spacer plate on top. you will need to remove that to put the short throw in, which means your not actually losing as much throw as the doge guys. If you don't remove the riser the shifter doesn't fully engage in the top of the trans and can actually pop out of the shift pins...happened to me once or twice.
Second, the dodge shifter has a different thread on it, GM has a fine Metric and Dodge has a coarse SAE thread I think...you will either need to buy a stick for a dodge or cut the top off of both shifters and weld the GM thread onto it. Had my buddy weld it up, first time not enough heat, bad penetration it snapped on the first hard shift...turned up the heat got a better weld, but eventually it started cracking, so I lost interest and bought a new stock one...I have a pic of it when it snapped, can look in the garage and see if I still have the parts if you want more pictures, not sure what I did with them.
