Should I go 14 bolt

I would guess 100lbs for the weight, not including brakes from either. Housing, axles, center chunk.

I know people are going to argue with me, but in my opinion, there is no reason to ever swap to the 14 bolt.

I know you're not, but I find it hilarious when people around here get into a tizzy over 100lbs or so. Seen it in the negatives argument for the 4l80e swaps. Have you seen the size of the vehicle you're working with?! It's not a miata!!

More for the project fun and jerking off to how much more I might be able to tow, I'll end up doing the 14 bolt some day.

Weight matters!! There is definitely a difference between a 4700lb rcsb z71 and a 5300lb 4wd Tahoe. The 80e is a non-negotiable weight addition. I'm still wondering why someone would go 14 bolt. Is it because they can get a take-out rear end for cheap and the swap costs them less than axles/trutrac/etc for the 10 bolt?

i agree weight matters, i changed my stock 10 bolt without a locker for a 14 bolt with a stock locker at the junkyard and paid 250 dlls difference
