Should I go 14 bolt

There's maybe 40 lbs of difference between a 10 bolt and a 14 bolt...
I just swapped so I would know lol.

There is no such thing as a 10 bolt that will hold up under power. I tore the spider carrier off the ring gear, twisted both axle shafts and cracked the diff housing around the pinion:

To me, the most impressive 10 bolt destruction was EvilGMC's.
It literally sheared all the teeth off the ring gear, Twisted the axle shafts, and spun the slicks 3/4 away around the rim. The Limited slip stayed together as well as the girdle cap, but everything else was junk!!!
He went with a custom 14 bolt and proceeded to Blow the built 4L80E trans.

I bent that stainless steel spider shaft into a 20 degree angle in the middle and got it stuck between the ring gear and diff cover haha. Mine died leaving from a stop though so it didn't get to build the steam to chuck parts out.

A new driveshaft is not required, just swap out the u joint. It takes a bastard u joint depending on what u joint your driveshaft has because the 14 bolt takes a 1350 u joint. You will also need new u joint straps to fit the 1350 because the straps off the 10 bolt won't work ( Bigger caps on the u joint )
