I havent yet. I will some day. I've been watering my Money tree... just not growing as fast as I's like it to. I need some Miracle Grow.

Being awd and all i wouldnt even worry about the 10b. It's a very strong rear.

Everyone pretty much agrees, being AWD the load is shared and pulls a great deal of stress off the rear axle, but these trucks aren’t light weights and when throwing a good amount of power to them, things can and will happen. I still have the 10-bolt in mine and do not fear a repeat problem, but the well known weak G80 exploded in mine at WOT. I replaced it with a regular old school style Eaton clutch style limited slip and couldn’t be happier. I feel confident good parts is all you need to make a 10-bolt live in a AWD application, but overkill can’t hurt to a degree either, it will just absorb a little power.

Does anyone remember if Parish8 used to run the stock 10 bolt in his 4wd truck? If so, that would certainly be a testament to its strength. He was a little more than hard on that blue truck.

I'm gonna bump this back up...

I'm going to be headed to the track this month and I'm torn. Do I get an eaton clutch style posi or do I chance the g80 grenading and just stepping up to the 14 bolt when it happens?

hmmmm... To be honest I am leaning eaton clutch type posi and call it a day till something breaks.

Folks are going to recommend the trutrac over a posi clutch type locker.

I'm AWD and ended up swapping the 9.5" AXN 14b and selling my trutrac. It was just easier for me to swap the entire housing than to install the trutrac and deal with pinion depth and all that.

If the g80 fails I'll swap a trutrac into my 14 bolt. Until then, Im running it. I won't make enough power for it to matter.

Also, you'll have to address the yoke or u-joint size differences some how. The easiest way is to run a hybrid u-joint.

My 10 bolt has the larger U joint from the factory so I believe it would swap right in.

I 100% support a clutch type diff if street truck. I believe you can upgrade the clutch pack and/or springs in the Eaton as well.

You can in the 8.5/8.625" eaton, but not in the 9.5" one. With that said, I have beat on my 9.5" eaton LSD for years without any issues at all. After a hard launch it wont want to unlock until you reverse but I figured that's pretty normal.
