Default Should I go with a 3/4 or a 3/5 drop?

Like the title of the thread says, I'm debating whether I should lower my truck 4" or 5" in the rear to go with a 3" drop up front. I dont mind a little rake but nothing too redicilous. My truck is a stepside so I dont really want to mess with hangers since they would be a royal bitch to install without removing the bed. I figure I could either keep my 2" shackles and add 3" Belltech leaf springs for a 5" drop in the rear or swap in the stock shackles and go with 4" leaf springs. Or I could always go with a flip kit and 1" lifting shackles for a 5" drop.........I'm leaning towards the stock shackle/4" leaf spring combo since I could always install spring clamps to bring the rear down another .5" if need be.

What do you guys think? Any pictures? I've already done some searching and looked at quite a few pics.

Would I need a C-Notch with a 5" rear drop?

I would go for a 3/5 drop. You are def. going to need to notch the frame. Maybe even a 3/6 which would make your truck look level.

This was chris99gmc's ride from a few years ago. Very sweet ride!

Thanks for the response, thats a bad *** truck. Is that a 3/5 or a 3/6 drop? Do you know what size tires/rims those are? I'll be sticking with my BBS 18s for the time being but I want to go to a set of 20" Centerline Tomcats and probably 255/45 or 275/45 tires in the future.

Those were 22 Eagle alloys (i think, for sure they were 22's) w/ 265/35R22's for tires. It was a 3/6 drop.

He said once it settled in the front, it was actually between a 3-4" drop, closer to 4".

yea chris' truck was badass. I tried to trade him a while back when he was selling it. I'm running a 3/4 on my truck right now and I hate it. If there isn't a full tank of gas in my truck it looks like crap.

Now I'm wondering if this isn't going to end up lower than I want since the springs will probably provide closer to a 4" drop in the front.....Oh well, I'll just try them and see what happens. Any more suggestions? Pictures?

if you ever put a load in your truck bed, I would go for the 3/4, if not then a 3/5.

BTW - How much were those BBS rims? I have been looking for trucks with them and you are only the second one I have seen. I really like them.

I got the rims and tires used, they were dirt cheap . I like them a lot too but I'm torn on whether or not I should have them repaired (one is bent slightly and another has some curb rash) or sell them and get some 20" Tomcats......There are a couple more pics here.

Edit: I dont remember where I saw them but I think 18" BBS RW's are $300 new...........?
