Should I run a higher stall?
Right now I'm running a Yank TRT3000 with my current setup:
5.3, TR224, LT's, 4"CAI, Built 60E, 4.10's w/TrueTrac, and tuning done by me.
I'm piecing together a LQ9 build right now and plan to use the L92 topend on the motor. I'm curious if most of yall would recommend running a higher stall than my 3k or just keep rocking the one I have? I do tow here and there so I would like to keep that in mind although my trans runs really cool while towing with the stock trans cooler. I'm kinda thinking that if I use the 3k stall instead of something higher like a 3800 it would keep from breaking the tires loose on the low end. Typically the "racing" I do is stoplight to stoplight, but I will run at the track too.
I dunno... just thinking about what all I'll really want to do when I do the motor swap in a few months. Thanks for any input!

What cam are you going to run in the LQ9? If you're swapping in the TR224, keep in mind that the power will come on a little sooner in a 6.0 than the 5.3. due to the extra cubes. A converter in the 3000-3400 area would probably work out nicely, and still retain your towing ability. No matter what you do, I'd get a bigger trans cooler for some relatively cheap insurance. The TruCool 40k is a favorite around here...if you're not familiar with it, just search this section for "TruCool" or "40K" and you should find a bunch of pics and info.

Yeah I have a trans cooler just haven't gotten around to installing it yet. I'll definitely be installing it before I run the 6.0 though
I'm almost thinking about using the TR224, but part of me wants to run something a little nastier to take advantage of the heads flowing really well. Maybe something around 236-242 duration with a larger exhaust number... that's for another thread
I think I'll keep the 3k in there the more I think about it. One of the reasons I was thinking about swapping converters is because I figured having something "looser" might help the trans in the 1-2 shift. It shifts hard right now because of the shift kit/servo, but dunno how well it'll like the 6.0. It's built... but it's still a 65E

If you go nastier on the bumpstick you're going to want to up the verter too, to maximize the combination IMO. I'd also be a little concerned with running a Yank TT series behind a 6.0...I was considering a TT3000 to go behind my LQ9 at first, but got nervous that it may not be strong enough, even for my relatively mild setup that I'm putting together. I've heard nothing but great things about Yank's billet series, and finally went with a CircleD triple disc myself. I know that there are guys out there running Yank TT's behind their 6.0's without any problems, I just like having extra insurance myself

BTW, the Yank has been badass so far. I lockup at WOT all the time and the converter is still running strong. It's a billet converter as well even though it's their "lower" end
