Default Sick of rough ride, what're my shock and or other options?

I have an '04 2wd truck with the smooth ride suspension package and even with this the truck has never quite rode as nice as I would like it to. The truck has never hauled a load in its life, stored winters and has stock 16" wheels on it along with some 255-70-16 Michelin's. Down rough roads the truck is just a little too choppy for my taste. It's like my brothers S10 Xtreme What're my options to soften this thing up? I don't want to swap springs but I was thinking rather that there must be some better shock options out there. If I had to describe to you what I'm looking for is a B-Body like ride. I love the way my Buick Roadmaster rides along with other Caprice's I've been in. Before anyone says " a truck is supposed to ride like a truck" my '70 SWB truck literally rides 10 times better than my Silverado. Maybe I should go to a trailing arm with coil spring suspension setup like that Handling is not a priority here, I want the smoothest ride possible.

Monroe shocks and pull the overload spring in the rear. Or put about 500 lb. in the bed.

Does Monroe make the softest shocks out there? How about those adjustable shocks with the dial on the side? Anyone running those?

airshocks or bags IMO...if you don't haul anything just do a bag over axle in the rear.

I can personally recommend the Skyjacker Softride Nitros, inexpensive and an excellent shock. I don't know if they make them for a 2wd though.

I wouldn't say they're the softest but they have very good control. I'm running them in the rear of my truck with Edelbrocks in the front and I like them.

I have Bilstein HD's on the way for my truck. I'll let you know how they are.
