That probably be your best bet, unbolt your disk assembly and all and unbolt all the drums off my rearend and swap em.. Once you get down to the bare axle you should be able to figure out how GM did the swap.. Surely they didnt change the axle tubes and brake mounting holes, just the way it all bolts up.. Get my drift??

Ahem,

You better get under there and measure the brake backing plate bolt pattern before you go-a-unbolting things.
Your leaf spring and shock mount brackets will most likely be the same but I'll bet the tube ends at the wheels have different patterns.

Save some grief and get a like year model.

if he did try to put the discs on the newer axle.... the answer answer is yes it did work because i have done this my self... only difference is the brake mounting plate is 45 degree different so the calipers sit at a diff spot
