I forgot about the u-joint. My driveshaft ended up in exactly the same place in the transfer case, but my truck is 4x4, maybe that's the difference??

Not sure but you probably wouldn't see the 5/8 at the slip joke. There is many factors like loaded and loaded that play into were it sits.
