You'll hear from time to time about a loose stall, or a tight stall. Each power adder likes a different stall.

You can have a tight 3200 stall and a loose 3200 stall. The difference is the slip% that is built into the converter. A loose 3200 will slip more, rev easier and is more suitable for turbo's and procharger's.

A tight 3200 will have less slip% built into it and will not slip near as much as a loose 3200 and is much more suitable for a pd blower.

Make sense, somewhat?
yes that make sense. what are some stalls that are loose that will like a pd blower? or what should i look for as far as specs go?

Opinions vary,

A pd blower doesn't need to rev to make boost. A tight 2800-3000 will perform very nicely. A Circle D 1B (265mm single disk) is what I would use. My FTI (that I still use) is a 2900 single disk, similar specs. My truck made around 9psi @ 2k.

right on. i am putting in a 224/228 600 lift cam also and was gonna do a stall for just that then decided to go FI. Just dont wanna spend 1200 bucks after hearing it could be loose/could be tight/stall high/not stall at the specified speed. unless its cold there a circle d single dick in the classifieds for 350. id rather spend that type of money then 1200 and figure out that its not at at what i need, ya know? im still running a stock 4l60. it has the vette servo and thats it. was also planning on doing the 40k tru cool upgrade. then once i destroy it either put in a built 4l60 or go with the 80 swap.

Thats correct and part of the game. The good think that you have going for you though is that there have probably been thousands of combos built like yours that make similar power. If you go with a well known builder (I'd use Chris at Circle D in your scenario), they will likely already have notes to go off of to get it pretty close to what you want. Converter guys understand this situation more than anyone, and because of that, most will offer one or two free restalls within a reasonable amount of time.

I recommended Chris at Circle D not because he is the best converter builder out there. I recommended him because he has probably build more street type ls truck converters with similar combos as yours than any one out there. I'd be confident he could get you the closest on the first try. Be very honest with whoever you use about your combination.

I'll vouch for Circle D, along with a host of others. Chris/Brian's customer service is the best. They do offer a free restall within the first year I think.

Right on guys. Ya I'm not looking for perfection, but also don't wanna pay 1200 for something that's suppose to stall at 3 and end up stalling at 7.
