Default Slight transmission hiccup today :(

Well the last 2 days my truck has been making a whinning noise. I figured it was just the power steering or alternator. Today on my way home from work the TC would not lock then it started slipping pretty bad. The temps started climbing up 30-40* above normal. They reached about 180*. Also the tranny fluid was WAY over full on the stick. Soooo i called up Vince in a plea for help. We talked about a few things and he mentioned the pump or clogged filter. So i dropped the pan, fluid was a little dirty and the magnets had some black stuff on them, not alot but some. No chuncks thou. So i swapped out the filter and low and behold it drives like new again. The temps are wee they usually are which is 120-130. Also no more whinning coming from the transmission

Hopefully it was just crap from the rebuild or a bad filter or i dunno. I will see how it goes over the next few weeks.

So as always thanks again Vince i appreciate the wisdom.

I noticed a black really really fine material, i am wondering if it was the 4th gear carbon fiber band i installed breaking in. I remember the pin for it was at the tight end of the spec when i installed it. All the other clutches and bands were the high energy ones that are reddish.

Yea i imagine so, every 80e ive been in looks like it has mud in the bottom of the pan from all the nasty clutch material.

The one in my truck now had enough that i was sure it wasnt gonna work.

The late 80's use a wide intermediate band and the servo pin is longer. When looking at the late servo pin it has an ID groove in it. I think you have 60E on the brain.........no band for 4th on an 80e!
