Ive done a few ujoints in the past but this last time i couldnt get the cups to budge in the yokes with a Arbor press. Took it to the powertrain place and $50 i had 3 new ujoints and they installed them.

The 4wd trucks use the yoke that will fit the 80E. My buddys 1998 truck was a 4wd. Took the yoke off and put it on a 2wd DS and it fit perfect.

How difficult is it to install the slip yoke onto the driveshaft?
I bought a 4wd ball joint kit to replace my ujoints, with this it seriously takes less than 5 minutes. I used a cheap torch to melt the plastic retainers as well.

Here's the kit I use: Ball Joint Service Kit for 2WD and 4WD Vehicles

Updated the link in my original post as well, the s-44 is the same as the 3r.

Resurrect this one from the dead.... I couldn't find any other information about the dimensions of the yoke. Denny's has their "Long Barrel" listed at 7 5/8" and in order for this to work with the swap, you have to cut off 5/8 of an inch. Making the yoke, from center of the U-joint to end of the barrel 7". Does this sound right? SO if I have a 7.5" long yoke, I only need to cut off at 1/2"? Does anyone have an end to end dimension of this so it's all in one thread? I'll post it when I'm done, of course, but just curious if anyone has it out there just to be sure this is going right.
thanks,
Dan

Of course, those turkeys don't list an overall length, either. Did you have to cut it? Found the same part number in an eBay auction, it's 7.5" long.

My bad, should've left the first sentence out about those turkeys. I found the right size on one on eBay.
