I have a '03 silverado w/4.8 and 60e. What are some of the most common repairs as far as slipping ie: clutch pack, pressure, etc. My truck has 70k on it and 2nd going to 3rd is slipping any ideas???

Completely rebuild your tranny with some high quality parts like Alto Red Eagle fiber plates, or Blue Plate Special (fiber plates) and Kolene steel plates. Kevlar bands, Vette Servo and a Trango shift kit are a must for any 4L60E tranny. I personnal would replace all the bushing in the tranny but most shops only replace the pump and tailshaft bushing, they only replace the other bushing if they look like they need it. Some other options to look at are hardened input shafts, five pinion planetaries, heavyduty sun shell and some more clutches in clutch packs.

There is a lot of things you can do to beef up your tranny, one company that has been a lot of help for me is Hugh Performance.

Save your money and get a built 65e. I have gone through 4 built 60e's and eventually will go through the one I am running now. IMO call FLP and be done with it. (its what I should have done years ago)

Thanks for the response guys. How much am I looking at for a rebuild as far as parts, I am some what mechanically inclined but am really afraid of auto trannys. Is this something worth trying to do myself cause I really dont trust any transmission shops. And also what is the diff. between the 60e and 65e???

If you have never seen the inside of an automatic tranny I would not try to rebuild it, unless you don't mind pulling your tranny out several times untill you get right. As for the difference between the 60 and 65, the 65 is a beefed up 60, here is a website that might help.

No.. dont trust any tranny shops.. i am learning that the hard way as we speak... If you buy a ready and built stage 5 4l65e from FLP ive seen it for as much as $2500+shipping and than ive seen one that i think is a stage 4 from FLP for around $1800+ shipping. A tranny shop is around the same price.. but you never know what they are doing and if its right.. im going through that right now with aamco and ive learned my lesson.
