I'm not going to be going too nuts with my 6.0, just a 220/224 cam, WCCH heads, yada yada, No boost or nitrous. I like the gearing of the 60 vs. the 80, the simplicity of the swap (direct replacement lol), and the less drivetrain loss of the 60. My budget is a factor too...I'm going to have to work up some side jobs in my in-law's driveway (in the frickin cold of winter ), to fund this swap as it is.

*EDIT* Just noticed how you mentioned that the 80E is actually cheaper....hmmm

Yeah, If you get the trans for $1000-1500 and I would factor in a generous $500 for all the other stuff needed to do the swap. So a max of $2000. A FLT lvl 5 is $2500 and will be more likely to break than the stock 80e.

Your VERY lucky it was cold out and you hadn't been running it hard. I've seen several car/truck that have burn't to the ground with tranny cooler lines popping off and spraying hot tranny fluid on to the headers... POOF big fire...

Sorry about your luck man...

Don't forget 300-1000 for a TC, about 6-700 for drive shafts, and a couple hundred for an input gear for the t-case and a lot of labor, he's 4wd Not as cheap as everyone says.

Don't forget the swap parts and wiring. I've seen well built 60s survive behind some pretty stout engines.

Sucks either way though, good luck with it. At least the little one didn't wake up and freak out, nothing is worse then being upset and trying to calm a toddler.

I lost the hard line to the radiator one time....made for a hell of a smoke show spraying all over my headers

The squirrel eating thru the injector harness is icing on the cake...you want to borrow my pellet rifle?

Sorry to hear about the transmission but glad you were close to home since you had your daughter with you. When ever I have my daughter with me I stay in the right lane and take it easy I would hate to get stuck with her.

Absolutely

That squirrel must have liked the taste of trans fluid and brakleen...little bastard. When I came walking up to the truck all I saw was his tail wiggling around at first...he was a defiant little jerk too, he didn't run right away until I was so close that I could smack him upside the head!

Yea, I'm going to stick with a built 60/65E, I know that alot of the SS guys are running some pretty stout combos and getting by.

In the squirrels defence trans fluid has a sweet taste to it and I'm sure he was a little high from the brake cleaner! Your wiring was how he cured a severe case of munchies!
