Default So I lost 2nd, 4th, and reverse this weekend, Need opinions

It was nice out so I took the truck into wash it then run to walmart. While in walamrt I had ot backup for someone coming down the wrong parking isle. When I put it in reverse and gave it gas there was a loud pop noise and the truck rev'ed just like neutral.

At this point I though I thought I blew up the rear end. When back to drive just for ***** and it moved so I went past the guy and started home since I knew something was wrong. When I left the parking lot it was whining loud and wouldn't shift to 2nd. It finally got into 3rd and once I hit the 55mph zone it wouldn't shift to 4th.

So now I have to pull it and rebuild. Wondering if I should put a stall in since its going to be out. I'm not looking to build a drag truck, but I do want a cam eventually and know they need a higher stall. I've heard the stall will help even without a cam. What stall range would you guys put in a factory truck?

It really kind of depends on how big of cam you choose to run, many cams don't even need a stall because the factory stall speed works just fine with them.

I hear a popular choice for a smaller stall is just buying a trailblazer stall because it's higher than the silverado/sierra stall and cheaper than a aftermarket unit.

Almost sounds like your sunshell could have stripped or failed.

Tb converter would be fine for stock truck or even a decent cam... VJCX is the converter code.... Mine was flashing at about 2700 rpm....

Think about your goals/wants for the truck.

I'm not doubting anyone whose said the TB converter works, I'm playing devils advocate.

Damn near everyone who puts in a TB converter, ends up pulling them because they won't work with their goals/wants for the vehicle.

Correct

I am not a huge fan of the TB converter but they have a place. Like any stock converter the lockup clutch is kinda weak if making any power. For a mild NA setup they work fine.

Question was in a factory truck, not saying the tb converter is the be all end all option, but bang for buck its definitely a better option than a stock converter, unless he starts making ridiculous power and adds shift kit etc, then that changes things, depending on the setup!! When i said decent cam i meant something along lines of the truck series type cams that dont require stall anyway....
