If the donor truck is of the same model as the truck its going on then hydroboost is really a pretty easy conversion. On my 95 it was a little more difficult because the booster came from a 2006 which uses a completely different backing plate. The booster was free so it was just a matter of making a backing plate. Fortunately this has been covered already on another site and I was able to find a CAD drawing, print it, trace it, cut it and that was that. Then it was a matter of cutting off the pedal rod on the hydrobooster and the pedal rod on the vacuum booster and threading both, getting it to the right length, then coupling the two together. Then it was the brake pedal swap which is a complete nightmare on a 95. Then it was building up and grinding down the pedal rod until the brake switch worked right. After all that it was well worth it though. It will chomp down on the rotors and lock all four wheels up like its nothing if I need it to.

A coworker just did the Suburban rear brake upgrade on his 00 Sierra with 20s on it. He said unloaded he could feel some difference but when he got his car hauler on behind it he could really tell it stopped a lot better.
One of these days I will upgrade to Suburban rear brakes on mine and hydroboost.
