I consider the 3-4 clutches a normal wear item. IMO it's the weakest link in these trannies. There are alot of things internally that cause them to wear faster, but I know FLT takes care of that. It's not that hard to change them, and you only need minimal tools. If you have some good technical background, you should be able to tackle it.

Side note, but anyone know much about the z-pack clutches for the 3-4? Some builders swear by them and others say they suck!

It is straight forward if you know what you're doing. I definitely think you can do it though if you're mechanically handy. Get a manual:

A lot of people in the aftermarket use these. Very helpful with pictures, powerflow, specifications, etc.

Send me an email an I will send you a 112 page pdf of the GM Powertrain Manuel. It has pics of every operation and parts involved and also diagrams of the fluid used for each operation

It's honestly pretty straight forward. I would definitely get some sort of a manual if it's your first time. Or just start a thread and take some pictures, I wouldn't mind helping out. I would stay away from the Z-pack also, just never had any good results with them.
