did you put the seal the right direction? there is only 1 way the 4th servo can go and thats with the tit into the cover. it seems that o ring is on backwards and it is bypassing

The reason you have an issue is because you did not use the gold washer. Here is a picture of where it goes before you install the 4th servo.

I'd like to know how much it helps the feel of the 3-4 shift when you straighten it out. Do you have another o-ring for the cover or are you going to have to hunt one down to remove it?

Well I installed the washer on the end of the shaft like in the picture the first time I did it and it shifted fine but the outer clip cracked the housing after a few days of driving. So I wasn't sure if I didn't have the clip seated properly or if the washer somehow caused to much pressure on the cover causeing the clip to crack the housing.
When I got the new transmission, I installed the servos without the extra washer and made sure that the outer clip was seated properly but now it dosent shift into 4th gear.

Vince B, So your saying if I install the washer on the very end of the shaft like in the picture and make sure that the outer clip is seated properly that I should be good to go and it won't crack my case again??(I'm very paranoid about cracking the case again!!)

Yessir, that's what Vince is saying...I've heard of the transmission case cracking when the servo isn't completely seated properly, the case doesn't crack from over-pressure...

Yes that is exactly what I'm saying. The issue you had with retainer ring is obvious. You did not have it fully seated. Also if the groove where it gets seated is full of rust, corrosion and other debris you can have issues like you had with the ring not seating. HTH Vince

Crap, I bought the 4th servo & it didn't come with a washer. Just the cover, 4th servo & a spring...

Are you sure that you have the sonnax 4th servo? The reason I say this is because in my experience I have never seen a spring supplied with it from the manufacture. I think you are talking about a different one. Vince
