I can tell you my shifting improved noticeably when I upgraded from a Vette servo to using both Sonnax servos and the Sonnax pin. Firmer, but not too firm, 1-2 and even 2-3, as well as 3-4 because of the 4th gear servo. You might give these a shot.
Superior also makes billet servos, but they are apparently too firm for most street applications (source: http://www.4l60-e.com/). Sonnax offers a happy medium.
