Default Steel driveshaft critcal speed/limits???

Im getting my h/c/i/boltons lq4 truck dynoed Oct. 22nd. It is a RCSB with 3.73's and a stock steel driveshaft. Ive heard of aluminum driveshafts grenading anywhere from 100-130mph. According to calculations, my truck will do 129mph at 5k rpms in 3rd gear. 5k would really leave alot of power onthe table on a dyno. I was hoping to make some 6k pulls. Does anyone know what's safe on a stock steel driveshaft in a rcsb?

Btw, calculations show that 6k rpm in 3rd gear would be 152mph on my setup.

Mines had probably 50 pulls on a dyno for tuning, and 15 at dyno days, and hits pretty high speeds every once in a while. I have never been nervous before.

What are your mods?

I had mine balanced just in case. I have been 3rd gear up to 7,200 rpm with no issues.

Most of the shafts breaking are longer ones, on extended & crew cab trucks. If you start to feel it vibrating during your run, lift.

I would think you're good to go. I'd maybe look into having it high-speed balanced just for peace of mind but theres plenty of guys putting big hp/speed thru the stock steel shafts. Like AK mentioned, the ones coming apart are usually the longer shafts and generally the aluminum ones....

My 3.5 '' steel driveshaft has seen 157 mph on the dyno in 3rd gear.

No probs at all, im glad i went steel and it was half the cost of aluminum.
