Steering Stabilizer...
Hey all,
I was wondering if this would work:
I have a 2005 siverado lowered on 20's. The bumpsteer drives me crazy and the front end has a tendency to follow the grooves in the road. What I wanted to do was use a steering stablizer designed for a 4x4 to see if this would help smooth out the front end. Has anybody tried this? If so did it work? Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.

yea im having the same problem since i lowered the front with ground force 2 inch springs. if i hit a certain groove the front wants to follow it ,which its starting to **** me off because it feels like on drivng a ford ranger when that happens.

Im pretty sure its tires that make it follow grooves.
I have no Sway bar and it never follows grooves. But i have alot more sidewall than you guys.
I also have 3" belltech springs.
1quickrst how is your front lowered?
My Camaro would, then i got some new tires and the problem went away

It has the DJM 2/3 drop on it. I am pretty sure that it follows the grooves because of the directional tires on it. I just want to try and minimalize the amount of bumpsteer and groove following it does and I remember installing a steering stabilizer on my old 4x4 suburban and how much it helped I was thinking it might help out in this situation as well. I might just see if I can find a steering stabilizer for a 4x4 model of my year and see if I can get it to work on my truck....

Tracking is not that big of an issue with mine; it will run straight as an arrow. However after moving up to 22's, it does experience bump-steer. GM shows a center link for 1500 series trucks with the hole for the factory stabilizer, but I want to say I recall it being $300 plus for just the center link and I still have not found a factory application for the rest of the parts. The only ones I can find everything for are 3/4 ton's.
Edit: I didn't notice that you had a 2WD. It's a given that no factory parts will work then as you have no center link and so on. Looks like the aftermarket is your only hope.

I figured I would just go aftermarket. There has got to be some one out there that offers a bolt on steering stabilizer for my year truck. Even if it is for a 4x4 model, the suspesion design as far as the steering componets should be the same, so there should be no reason why a steering stabilizer for a 4x4 couldn't work on a 4x2. Oh, and thanks for all the help so far everyone!
