i tried the spacer scenario, they just don't do the job...i put in the bilstein hd shocks they helped but not as much as i was looking for....i may try the 1" lift springs. i have 2" drop spindles now and i like the ride height but i want this thing to corner better without eating the front fender if the road isnt real smooth...and i already did a sway bar and new end links which helped a little bit, but im really looking for a stiffer spring

I had spindles and 2" lowering springs on my old RC, with Toxic drop shocks, which I loved the ride from them. Go with a 1" lowering spring and you should be fine, unless you want to buy a lift spring and cut it down as those are generally tighter coils and a thicker gauge.

I had a good long talk with my dad about this topic a couple days ago (30 yrs experience in auto). Cutting a factory coil isnt going to do anything to stiffen the ride.

Is it a regular cab? If so a 1" drop spring for an EC/CC might work, I don't remember the spring rates off hand but I think they are marginally higher. I know that most drop springs lower a RC less than the EC/CC's, you might try calling McGaughy's, Belltech, and DJM. Your only other option is custom springs or going to a coilover setup.

I think you're on to something... my EC rides significantly firmer than any of my previous trucks. As well as 53RUSSELL's truck (EC) on a 2/4 was marginally lower than my RC on a 2/4 and his wheels were bigger as well.

wheel/tire weight plays a role in handling, unsprung weight
a heavy package will kill springs

how about an airstrut?

00silv4.8 your super experienced dad probably doesnt know anything about suspension design, theory, geometry, as most others dont either, get a suspension book
anyone can throw out some credentials

the OP is looking for stiffer coils so yes a lift spring will be stiffer as its usually the same length as a stock one but thicker coils, not like you would notice that anyways

lowering springs are usually softer/thinner but the same length, usually the stiffer ride is from riding on the bumps which shouldnt happen
