Default stock 4L80 handle 450-500 HP?

Will a stocker hold up considering mild converter, and a boosted 6.0, or is there a need to step up?

It wouldn't hurt to put a transgo hd-2 shift kit in it.

Mine is completely stock and held 600 rwhp for 2 years. I now keep it closer to 500 for a daily driver.

With the shift kit and tuned properly you will have no issues.

my 4L80 is completely stock about 13-14K miles at the time adn was going past RPM based shift points with 537+......we kinda tried it with no restrictor plate....

of course not a clue what it was making powerwise but the trans wasn't happy.

the built one in the tahoe has taken a the 502 and a 200 shot for towing, street abuse regularly and quite a few big hits of nitrous without complaints with about a 2500 stall.
