Stock Z71 what kind of power will the transmission and transfer case handle?
I am new to the Z71 traded in my excursion and is seems a little "doggy" to me. I am considering doing a very mild turbo but I am concerned with the stock transmission and transfer case. I am wondering where they will start to fail. I am only looking for about 300-350 whp I know those are low numbers and can probably be reached N/A at sea level, but I am at 6200 feet of elevation and I would be suppised if it made over 200 whp due to the lack of oxygen. Any advice wo uld be great.
I am familiar with the turbo stuff I have just never done anything aftermarket that is this heavy and/or 4wd.

Transgo HD and Vette servo and the tranny if in excellent condition should last for awhile at those levels...although some dont. Transfer case is no problem. Mine stayed together just fine but I did have my tranny gone through when I started running low 8's.

You need to get a custom tune and that will remove any "doggy" feeling. I am surprised you came from an excursion and anything feels slow.
As for the trans you should be good to add some power. Like others have said they are hit or miss. If you get a tune and the shift kit others have talked about you should be just fine to add some power. Worse case you swap an 80e later down the road and in stock form they handle a good deal of power. Or is you start to get crazy you get one cheap and have it beefed up.

You can spend all the money you want on a 60e but for my money it is a waist. If you are going to uprade it is a compleat waist of time doing a 60. Yes some have had good luck but most don't! I would take a stock 80 over the most expecive 60 ever. Not that the 80 will last forever but the 60 has a damn good chance of not lasting long at all.

I agree but from what i know ( im still new ) there is still so many variables w the swap in 4x4 trucks.
There are pig tails for the sensors but the u joints, drive shafts, input out shafts, and convertor spacers have yet to be written in stone.
I'd spend the money and time to put a built 80 in my truck and never worry about it again. Then swap the 60 back in, un bolt the turbo and trade it in.
