Update!!!! okay just got off the phone with the trans shop and it turns out that, since the motor only came with one guide pin -_- ( STUPID JUNKYARD! ) it caused the trans to vibrate which caused the tranny to come loose from the engine which stripped the converter and messed up the pump :/. getting everything replaced and will have it hopefully by tomorrow

As far as your statement made on the last page about the V6 to V8 not sending a 12V signal is bullshit. You swap the harness from a V6 to V8 and the only thing that is even remotely different is the fuel lines and the PCM, which if you have it tuned correctly is the EXACT same as a V8 PCM.

Now with that being said Having one guide pin isn't an issue. I've seen plenty of people install engines with one or no dowel pin. As long as you have all the bolts tightened like a SOB it should be fine. You do have to be careful however when mating the trans back up to not push the converter and damage the pump. Engine grounds will cause some funky problems so triple check your grounds. I can tell that you didn't research enough and it would've helped ya to have someone there who knew what was going on.
But where's the fun in that?! At least now you know what little problems to take care of next time before the project even starts.

Goodluck

Glad I could help man! Hopefully you get everything worked out and get the truck up and running. FWIW i ended up using a 4x4 harness on my 2wd truck. Both the trans plugs were sliced though so i ended up cutting the plug from the V6 harness and splicing it into the 4x4 harness. I left the front plug for the T-case clipped and just taped it up since i wasnt using it. I went through 2 transmissions and a converter swap so 3 times i pulled/reinstalled the trans with no problems.

Im betting your problem is something stupid or the verter got pushed and damaged the pump.

Pretty sure it was the verter being pushed into the pump :/
Lol.

Any tips on the trans removal since we both had 2000s
Oh hey you use to have the 03-05 lights right? Did you have to use a new harness?

A lift is nice... and long extensions (3ft) with a swivel on the end will work wonders. There is no easy way of doing it unless you have a lift/trans jack/ and all necessary tools. Lol

As far as the taillights go. I had the 05 lights and just trimmed out some of the plastic so my bulbs would fit. No harness BS included for me.

I've always had black trucks so i like the 05+ better because they have the little black outline. The 03-04 is all red IIRC
